Filling the tanks creates some pressure. I would use the teflon thread sealant and allow it to cure before putting pressure on it.

Fuel line leak sealant. A trick to any thread sealant and i no longer use ptfe tape on fuel for reasons mentioned is to leave the first thread of npt fittings dry bare metal. Gasoila soft set pipe thread sealant with ptfe paste non toxic 100 to 600 degree f 2 oz tube. Youll have leak free fittings without the hassle of tape. Cover a large area around the site of the leak to make sure that the leak is completely sealed. To choose the appropriate thread sealant look for its chemical resistance to fuel diesel or gasoline or oil running through the line. Use 3 to 5 coats for best results.
This usually keeps the crap out of the pipes. Backyard mechanics will tell you theyve used regular old gas resistant teflon tape yellow stuff with success. Give the sealer ample time to dry. Allow 30 to 45 minutes before returning the engine to service. Open the line up on one end and drain any remaining fuel out before disconnecting the other end.
