3 black wires single pole light switch. Ive been installing smart light switches throughout the house and have had no issues. Ask question asked 2 years 3 months ago. Another black is in a loop around bottom screw and 3rd screw is in hole next to bottom screw. Two of the wires plugged into the back of the switch and the other attached to a side screw. I attached one wire to the top side screw on the new switch and the other two to the other side screw. The old switch is a single pole but it has three black wires attached to it.

The last switch i came to was for an outside light. When i removed the switch plate there were 3 black wires no white or ground. Single pole light switch 3 black wires. There are groves on a plate under the screws. One black wire attached to top screw. One on each of the two screws not counting the third screw for grounding which has nothing on it and one in a push in in the back.

Two black wires are going directly into the quick connects. My limited understanding tells me that you are supposed to use one or the other the push in or the screw. Not sure if i can get help with this but wanted to present my issue. The new switch has a different way to attach. I am replacing my single pole light switch and noticed when i removed the old switch that there are three black wires coming from the box. Active 2 years 3 months ago.

I was not prepared for this. All the white wires are capped together and the same is for the ground wires. Im not sure how to reattach. If it helps the this light switch turns on two seperate ceiling lights in the bedroom. While a single black wire is pigtailed and connected to the bottom screw non green screw. Of the three black wires only one of them is hot.

Ran into a unique light switch this evening where one of. When opening the switch i found 3 unmarked black wires as shown here.
