3 black wires in outlet. I have been putting the wires under the screws. My new outlet doesnt have 4 push holes in back. Then connect the pigtail to the gold screw. The brass screw is for the black wire and the silver screw is for the white wire and the bare wire is your ground and it goes to the green screw on the outlet. You connect a 6 8 wire to the outlet. Connect all three black and fourth short black wire pigtail with a wire nut. 3 white wires 2 pushed into the back one under the screw on the side 3 black wires 2 pushed into the back one under the screw on the side 3 ground wires all twisted together and under the ground screw. 2 whites and 1 black backstabbed into the outlet and the other white and 2 blacks tied together with a wire nut. Buy receptacles with back wire connectors.
The last switch i came to was for an outside light. Turned off the breaker and discovered 3 sets of wires going to the outlet. Electrical outlets in the united states come in 110 volt with three wires. Two of the wires plugged into the back of the switch and the other attached to a side screw. All the white wires will go together in a wire nut. A black power wire a white neutral wire and a green or bare grounding wire.
Do the same with the white wires only connect to the silver screw. Later in the evening i noticed the router turned off so i tested the voltage at the outlet and got some voltage but way less than 120.
