The switch looks like this. Yep just transfer the wires across to the new switch connecting them to the same terminals as they are now.

2 red 2 black wires light switch. None are hot unless the other light switch is turned on in which one of the reds is hot. A 3 way is also a single pole. There were 2 red and 2 black wires connected to the 4 terminals. Unfortunately i removed all the wires from the switch. I have a 3 way switch with 2 red wires and 2 black wires and a ground and trying to figure out which wire goes where. Hello can anyone help me i need to install a new light switch which has 1c 2.
Last edited by ray2047. Dont worry about having two reds and a black this is quite normal. One of the blacks is a switch wire the other is the neutral. It has 4 wires 2 red and 2 black the 2 black go to two different common terminals and the 2 red go to two different l2 terminals what type of switch is this and how do i replace it as the new switches only have two terminals l1 and l2 this is the only switch for the kitchen light so it is not a 2 way switch or anything like that. How is it connected at the moment. If the switch that was there is a standard light switch with two brass screws on it and one green screw you can connect the red wire to either of the brass screws.

The two reds together in a connector. Connect the black wire to the other brass screw. I tested the other wires on the hot red to see which turn the light on and thats one of the black wires. Green yellow earths together. Connect the 2 black wires 1each to the brass screws on the new switch.
