I have a 92 c1500 with a 43l. An indexing slot is located on back of tensioner.
Saab Tensioner Pulley Bolt Left Hand Thread
Tensioner pulley bolt reverse thread. Which requires you to turn the bolt counter clockwise. But you dont know if its the idler pulley that has bad bearing so you can just replacing the whole auto tensioner assembly which is easier and you should be able to get that quicker from any local auto shop. Is the reason that the the pulley is reverse thread because you have to use the pulley bolt to release tension on the belt. The pulley bolt on the tensioner is left hand thread turn clockwise to loosen but the bolt that retains the tensioner to the alternator bracket is standard right hand thread turn counter clockwise to loosen. I just replaced the tensioner pulleyfor 2nd time and have just about stripped the bolt. Install pulley and pulley bolt to tensioner.
I have searched but havent come up with an exact part number. Im wanting to know if the bolt holding it to the tensioner is reverse threaded. It makes sense that it is reverse threaded because it requires you to push forward to release tension. Just need to replace the pulley. My older pre runner had 27 had a separate spot on the tensioner you used. You must buy the whole belt tensioner assembly.
And doing this to a standard thread bolt cause it to potentially loosen the bolt. Align this slot to the head of the bolt on the front cover. If you are trying to remove the tensioner from the bracket it just takes a little muscle. However the tensioner mounting bolt is rh thread gm 10273568. It is a 14mm bolt but beyond that have no clue. The belt tensioner pulley bolt tightens when you release tension on the belt.
I need to replace the tensioner pulley. Does anybody here know what the actual part number is or where i can get another. To prevent the bolt from loosening it is a reverse thread. The tensioner itself is fine. It has no gm part number and cannot be replaced. Tighten bolt to 61 nm 45 ft.
